Make Weekend Dinners Fun With BBQ Chicken Sliders
What’s not to love about Barbecue Chicken Sliders? They come together quickly that you can easily prep ahead, then all you have to do is lay it between dinner rolls or Indian ladi pavs with some cheese and then grill it to serve it hot. Kids and adults, both love it. Now that’s what I call a winner chicken dinner recipe!
These BBQ Chicken Sliders are the best kind of party food. You can make a big batch of pulled chicken breast sliders by prepping it ahead. Later, before serving all you have to do is slice the dinner rolls, place the shredded chicken filling and then top it with some cheese (and some more) before placing the top of the bread roll and grilling it.
The spicy BBQ chicken and melted cheese makes it perfect, thus making everyone happy. At least that’s what happens at my end. My folks cannot have enough of Chicken Slider dinner parties. That is why I just had to include it for my Father’s Day special grazing board.
We all know Burgers and Sandwiches, but Sliders are something that is quite new in the Indian food scenario. It is prominently an American concept of mini Burgers which are more like a sandwich. Popular as a game food, it is a mini version of Ham Burger and is often served along with Beer. Chicken Sliders recipe is an adaptive version to suit our Indian palate and taste.
Ideally, a slider would comprise of a bun with a mini hamburger patty in between. Another variation is where pulled Roasted Pork is filled inside the buns. Drawing my inspiration from those recipes, I tried pulled Chicken almost 5 years back which came out amazingly good and became our hot favourite.
How to make BBQ Pulled Chicken Slider recipe – Ingredients list
- Dinner Rolls or Ladi Pav – alternate would be Burger Buns
- Chicken Breast
- Cheese Slices
- Onion & Spring Onion
- Bell Peppers & Capsicum
- Ginger & Garlic
- Ketchup
- Barbecue Sauce
- Ketchup
- Vinegar
- Honey
- Olive Oil or Refined Oil
One of the main elements of this dish is the Dinner Rolls or as we call them Ladi Pav in India. You can easily buy packs of Pav from your local grocer or any local baker in your neighbourhood. But, if baking interests you then I would suggest making these at home. It is an amazingly easy recipe that requires only a handful of ingredients.
Step-by-step instructions on how to make the BBQ Pulled Chicken Sliders
- Heat the butter in a pan and add the sliced Onions. Let it caramelise till golden brown in colour
- Once done, keep it aside
- In the same pan, heat some oil. Add the Ginger and Garlic and cook for a minute or two before adding the sliced bell peppers and capsicum and stir till they soften up
- Add the shredded chicken and give it a stir
- Mix the rest of the ingredients in a cup and stir well. Pour this on top of the chicken and cook till it becomes sticky
- Turn off the heat and allow it to cool down a bit
- Take the pack of Dinner Rolls (Ladi Pav) and cut it into halves, dividing it into top and bottom halves
- Take your baking dish and place the bottom half in it. Spread the Barbecue Chicken filling evenly on it
- Now spread an even layer of caramelized Onion on it and a layer of sliced cheese. Place the top half of the bun
- Brush some melted butter on top and grill it for 4-5 minutes for extra crispness
- Serve it with dips and sauces of your choice

- 1 pack Dinner Rolls 9 invid units
- 250 gms. Chicken Boiled & Shredded
- 1/4 cup Onion Finely Sliced
- 1 Yellow Bell Pepper
- 1 Red Bell Pepper
- 1 Capsicum
- 1 tbsp. Garlic Finely Chopped
- 1 tbsp. Ginger Finely Chopped
- 2 tbsp. Green Onions Finely Chopped
- 1 tbsp. Smokey Barbecue Sauce
- 1 tsp. Honey
- Salt To taste
- 1/4 tsp. Vinegar
- 2 tsp. Tomato Ketchup
- 1 tbsp. Refined Oil
- 1 tbsp. Butter
- Sliced Cheese for sandwich
