Chocolate Mocha Cake Mug Cake Recipe

This chocolate mocha cake received such rave reviews from my readers on Instagram that I had to work on it and share it ASAP. After my Lemon Mug Cake recipe, this became the most requested one. Topped with Dalgona frosting, no wonder this was a hit among my readers.

My recipe for the chocolate mocha cake in a mug is perfect for breakfast or as snacks for two! Bake it in one-go and you can easily sit back and relax with some pocket-size decadence!

How to make this Chocolate Mocha flavoured Mug Cake?

For this mug cake recipe, you would need some basic ingredients required for baking a cake. Here, I am talking about All-Purpose Flour (Maida), good quality Cocoa Powder, Instant Coffee Powder, Sugar, Eggs, Oil & leavening agents like Baking Powder and Baking Soda.

We are going to bake these mug cakes in a ceramic mug which can withstand baking in a convection microwave oven.

I topped these mug cakes with Dalgona coffee frosting. Technically, dalgona coffee is a milk-based beverage where coffee, sugar and hot water in equal proportion are beaten together till frothy and then served over some hot or cold milk.

So here I took 1 teaspoon each of instant coffee, sugar and hot water and whisked it with my trusted electric beater till stiff peaks. This took me somewhere around 8-10 minutes to achieve that. In the end, the quantity of dalgona coffee frosting was enough to top two mug cakes.

To add a touch of luxury, I stuck a piece of Lindt Milk Chocolate on each of them. You can use any other chocolate instead of Lindt. Personally I have loved baking with both Cadbury and Amul Chocolates as well. Especially with their dark chocolate range. They are simply delicious.

You can also dust some cocoa powder or sprinkle some cocoa nibs. You can play around with the garnishing here and go ahead with whatever catches your fancy.

How to eat Chocolate Mocha Mug Cake with Dalgona coffee frosting?

To be honest, the frosting here is quite strong and might even appear to be bitter if had on its own. So, the best way to enjoy this dessert is to take a spoon and dig all the way through in. The frosting in itself will be bitter but the cake balances it out. A little disclaimer before you charge me for ruining your Dalgona experience.
