- 1/2 cup sugar

- Reduce the heat to low and continue cooking for another 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens and appears shiny
- Remove the pot from the heat and let the mixture cool to room temperature
- Once the mixture has cooled, strain it through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any pulp or solids
- Transfer the strained mixture to a clean jar or bottle and refrigerate
