Be the Burger King (or Queen!) of your kitchen!!

When I made these for the first time, my husband chuckled that I could be the next Burger Queen of the country. It’s that good! The mutton tikki for burger is well-cooked, juicy and perfectly flavour balanced. With a desi touch, this mutton keema patties recipe will give you the juiciest burgers to enjoy.

Unlike chicken, mutton has a strong flavour which needs to be balanced with more earthy warmth of spices. So, I have added a couple of simple ingredients from my pantry here. Let’s see what are those and know how do you make burger patties from scratch.

How to make Mutton Keema Burger Patties – Ingredients list

  • Mutton Keema – alternate would be Lamb Keema
  • Onion
  • Garlic & Ginger
  • Fresh Coriander Leaves
  • Fresh Mint Leaves
  • Green Chilies
  • Refined Oil
  • Garam Masala Powder
  • Salt
  • Egg
  • Mayonnaise

Step-by-step instructions on how to make the juiciest homemade mutton burger patties:

  • Take a frying pan and heat some oil in it. Add the chopped garlic and onion, and saute till they turn translucent.
  • Then add the mutton keema and stir. Season with salt. It would immediately start releasing water.
  • Add the chopped green chilies and grated ginger and stir till that water evaporates.
  • Once you see that the mined meat has turned brown and dried up completely, turn off the heat and transfer it into a heat-proof bowl.
  • Add the chopped coriander leaves, mint leaves, mayonnaise and an egg. Combine everything and divide into 2-3 equal portions. Each portion should be as per the thickness of patty you want for your burgers.
  • Now gather each portion into a round shape. Don’t bother shaping it into a patty as it would be a wet mix.
  • Now, heat the frying pan once again with some oil. Drop each of the burger patty portion in the pan and shape it using a spatula. Pat the edges and press them towards the centre while pressing it at the top as well. Let it cook on medium-low heat till it solidifies and holds it’s shape.
  • In 10-12 minutes, turn them over. Now fry this side. If you see that the patty has developed cracks while turning over, simply pat the edges once again to shape it.
  • Once done, take them out and assemble your burger using lettuce, onion, tomatoes, a slice of cheese, ketchup and this delicious and juicy mutton keema patty

Cooking with mutton or lamb meat can be a bit tricky. Unlike chicken it takes a longer time to cook. So, in order to make sure that our mutton keema burger patties are thoroughly cooked, I have used two-step process here. If you are working with minced chicken meat or beef for burger patty, you can directly mix all the ingredients in it and form the patties to fry. Chicken Burger patty cooks very fast and in case of beef patty, once it gets a good char on both sides, it’s good to go.
