Mushroom Jhal Deva –  Recipes for everyday cooking

I think Mushrooms should be included to the prime association of Superfood! I mean, it is super healthy, zero wastage, so easily available and can be enjoyed by all. Most vegans, as well as, vegetarians consider it as a vegetable. So, here is another one of those mushroom recipes from my mom’s kitchen which made its way to mine.

This is a quick & easy mushroom recipe for chapathi, ideal for dinners. Very quick to put together, this includes basic ingredients to give you a tasty mushroom recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 pack Button Mushrooms Around 200gms
  • 3 tbsp Mustard Oil
  • 1/4 tsp Nigella Seeds
  • 3 Onions sliced Large
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Mustard Seeds Paste
  • 2 Green Chilies Finely chopped
Instructions
  1. Slice the Mushrooms lengthwise

  2. Heat Mustard Oil in a pan and temper it with Kalonji or Nigella Seeds

  3. Add the sliced onions and fry till light golden.

  4. Add the sliced Mushrooms, Green Chilies, Turmeric Powder and Sugar. Fry this on medium-high heat. It will release some water and then dry up, thus cooking the mushrooms.

  5. After that add Salt and Mustard Paste. Stir everything well and let it simmer for 4-5 minutes with the lid on.

  6. Once the mushrooms are cooked, you will see that you can cut then in halves using your spatula, serve them with some chopped coriander leaves.
