This Cupcake Dessert Grazing Board should be on your list to do if you are into baking and want to do something spectacular for special occasions. This cupcake platter here has six different kinds of cupcakes – a sweet lover’s dream!
Here in this post, I will tell you how to make your PERFECT platter along with the recipes for all the six varieties of cupcakes I have used here to make my own sweet Cupcake Grazing Board.
How to plan your Cupcake Dessert Grazing Board
If you have a sweet- tooth like us, or you are entertaining guests over a brunch, then this decadent cupcake grazing platter idea will definitely put you on the map.
The best thing about this cupcake grazing platter idea is that you can make one master batch of cupcake batter and then divide it in the number of varieties of cupcakes you want on your dessert platter.
I used my Vanilla Cake recipe for that master batter. You can totally check it out because already it is one of the most popular recipes on my blog! Using this batter, I made the following cupcakes here:
- Classic Vanilla Cupcake
- Birthday Funfetti Cupcake
- Double Chocolate Cupcake
- ChocoWalnut Cupcake
- Cookie & Cream Cupcake
- Lavender Lime Cupcake
Choose a Big Serving Board or a Tray to make your platter. I chose a Baking Tray here which is perfect for the number of cupcakes that I am planning to serve.
Always remember to make your Grazing Board colourful. Choose the cupcakes which will bring a visual boost to the grazing board. Let your guests savour it with their eyes first!
If you are planning to go for frosting, then add the toppings of the same or related ingredients which went into the cupcakes. For instance, I used Lemon slices on my Lemon & Lavender Cupcakes, an Oreo on Cookies & Cream Cupcake and Stars on my Birthday Cupcakes.
Some of the cupcakes can be left without any frosting, like ChocoWalnut Cupcakes which had pieces of walnuts studded on top.
To break the monotony of cupcakes, I placed some of the OREO cookies I had extra along with some cashews and some fresh fruits like Watermelon and Grapes. You can go for any variety of fruits here, and can also add some savoury options to cut the sweetness with Crackers, Cheese, perhaps some olives or whatever catches your fancy as savoury snacking food.
Apart from these six, you can have different kinds of cupcakes or muffins for your Grazing Board. Here’s a quick list:
- Mint Chocolate Cupcakes
- Peanut Butter Cupcakes with Jelly Frosting
- Coffee Cupcakes
- Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes
- Lemon Cupcakes
- Orange & Raspberry Cupcakes
Here, I will share the basic recipe of the cupcake batter that I used and how I turned it into 6 different kinds of cupcakes.

Take a bowl and mix all the dry ingredients together. Sieve them through and keep them aside.
-
Now, in another bowl, whisk the eggs with a pinch of salt, till light and almost 2 times in its volume.
-
Add oil to the eggs and whisk them vigorously till light and airy.

Now, add the dry ingredients in three parts, alternating with milk and mix gently. Once you see that the dry ingredients have incorporated nicely, stop mixing.

Line your cupcake tray with liners. Pre-heat the oven at 180c
-
Now, divide the batter into 6 equal portions. Add different favours into each of these portions.
For Classic Vanilla Cupcake, add 1/4 tsp Vanilla Extract and mix. Divide the batter into the cupcake liners. You should get 3 out of each portion.
For Birthday Funfetti Cupcake, add 1/4 tsp Vanilla Extract and the Sprinkles. Keep some aside for the topping. Divide the batter into the cupcake liners
For Double Chocolate Cupcake, add 1 tbsp of Cocoa Powder, chopped Dark Chocolate and a little bit of milk to loosen the batter. Fill the cupcake liners.

Bake the cupcakes at 180c for 35-40 minutes if you are baking these together. Otherwise, if you are batch baking then reduce the time to 20 minutes. Check if done, otherwise continue baking for another couple of minutes till done. Check with a toothpick inserted in the centre for doneness.
-
Take them out and allow them to cool first before frosting.
-
Take the chilled Butter in a bowl and whisk it till it becomes pale. Add the granulated sugar gradually and whisk till it becomes completely dissolved. It should take somewhere between 4-5 minutes.
-
Add the chilled cream and whisk till it gets a spreadable consistency.
-
Use this to frost the cupcakes and then decorate them with the ingredients before serving.
