I love making mushrooms for weeknight dinners. They are quick, do not need a ton of preparation and on top of EVERYTHING, they do not need babysitting while cooking. I mean, while they are in the pot, I can very well sort out my kitchen or make some spaghetti or simple fried rice to go with these herb butter easy sauteed mushrooms.

When time is what you are running short with, you better look out for time-saving recipes like healthy sauteed mushroom recipe.

For those who prefer meatless meals, they are in luck because mushroom recipes in India are mostly vegetarian. At least that’s what I have here on my blog. I let these shrooms be the star of the dish!

Sauteed Mushrooms Recipe Easy Vegetarian

This Herb butter sautéed mushrooms also make an excellent entrée. You can always roast a big batch of this dry mushroom recipe in the oven and serve it to your guests.

I know some of you have dietary restrictions and for that, you might be looking for vegan mushroom recipes. Just omit the butter and use 100% of EVOO, instead. I won’t lie that it would still taste the same. But, it surely works out pretty well without butter.

Overall I think mushroom recipes are easy and don’t take much to serve a great meal. Just a couple of cloves of garlic, a dollop of butter, a splash of white wine vinegar or any sauces, and you are sorted.

How to make Sauteed Mushrooms in Herb Butter Sauce – Ingredients list

  • Button Mushrooms – 2 packs of 200gms each
  • Onion 
  • Butter – Omit for Vegan option, replace with EVOO
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO)
  • Cloves of Garlic – the more the merrier!
  • Dried Rosemary
  • Chili Flakes
  • Salt to Taste
  • White Vinegar
  • Finely Chopped Coriander Leaves to Garnish

Step-by-step instruction on how to make easy Sauteed Mushrooms with Garlic Butter Sauce

  1. Clean the Button Mushrooms and keep them intact if they are smaller in size. Cut them in halves of they are chunky and big
  2. Heat butter and oil in a pan. Add the finely chopped Onion and let it sweat for couple of minutes
  3. Once they turn translucent, add the mushrooms. Now, toss them around and let them fry on low-medium heat for 4-5 minutes.It will release a lot of water. Let these mushrooms cook in their own liquid
  4. Once the liquid is absorbed, add salt and the seasonings like rosemary and chili flakes
  5. By this time, the mushrooms will have attained a darker shade. Add the vinegar and deglaze the bottom of the pan. That is, mix everything well, and scrape the seasonings stuck at the bottom of the pan
  6. Grate the garlic in the mushrooms at this stage and give everything a good stir
  7. Check for salt at this stage and add if required
  8. Serve with freshly chopped Coriander leaves
